Nel 2009, la Allman Brothers Band aveva trasformato la propria line-up che consisteva in Gregg, Jaimoe e Butch, chitarristi Warren Haynes e Derek Trucks, il bassista Oteil Burbridge e Marc Quiñones alle percussioni. In sintonia tra loro musicalmente, filosoficamente e personalmente, questi musicisti colpivano lavorando al massimo mentre si preparavano a celebrare il 40° anniversario della band con una festa senza esclusione di colpi l'ho stand annuale del gruppo è presso lo storico Beacon Theatre della città di New York . Questo locale rustico era diventato un luogo privilegiato per l'ABB per suonare a Manhattan, nella tradizione del Fillmore East. Questo show è stato dedicato alla memoria di Duane Allman e, di conseguenza, alcuni ospiti molto speciali sono venuti a rendere omaggio a l'uomo conosciuto come 'Skydog'. Sessantadue artisti, tra cui Eric Clapton, Levon Helm, Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, e Buddy Guy erano lì.
